Hi Guys, about a week ago I lost the ability to ftp to my website. It worked fine one day and didn't the next. The only message I get is "Unable to make a connection. Please try again."

I have tried connecting to the domain name and the ip address. I also contacted my isp and they assured me there are no blocks at their end.

Can somebody help me please.

As you can see from the traceroute you posted the packet doesn't leave your ISP network: they reach mas6-ge0-2.gw.optusnet.com.au [211.29.139.21] then this node replies that the destination is unreachable. So either yous ISP is blocking the destination or is having trouble to route the packets. You should contact them again, pointing out the specific issue.

How to make a network problem report

First check this board for notices about programmed downtimes or un- scheduled maintenance.. Your can get your server number by log into your control panel and looking at the URL in your browser's address bar (s#server number#.altervista.org).

If there is no notice about your server and you can't reach your site, please report it here by posting the content of the result file generated by this script:

Update: I have discovered that if I use my cell phone without going through the Comcast/Xfinity wifi, I can connect to the site. If I use the wifi or my computer through Comcast/Xfinity, I cannot connect.

You should report to your ISP the issue: your site is working fine.

This IP address is blacklisted on dnsbl.spfbl.net. I am also waiting for Comcast/Xfinity to resolve this blocked IP address issue. There is more to this issue than I imagined.

Update: Moreover, the website last using this IP address, dutertewarriors.altervista.org was suspended as not compliant with community regulations. I suspect that is why Comcast blocked the IP address of 78.129.205.47.

Comcast states this is an altervista issue not a residential customer's issue. The IP address is assigned and owned by altervista and it is blocked by Comcast for some problem such as spamming. If altervista wishes to get the block removed, refer to this address http://postmaster.comcast.net/block-...l-request.html. Bye!

All of these name servers are unreachable via Comcast. I have truncated the returns for brevity. The first IP, 78.129.205.47 was assigned to me and then blocked by Comcast. I terminated that site and got a new site and was assigned IP 78.129.205.50 and that IP is blocked as of 5 February 2018. I have subsequently engaged CloudFlare and have no issues other than connecting via FTP software. However, the above listed Name Servers of Altervista are not reachable. Comcast is a major player in Internet service and to have altervista blocked is not good form. Moreover, since 78.129.205.50 is blocked, I cannot connect to ftp.legionpost869.altervista.org via my FTP software and Dreamweaver.

Does anyone in Admin really give a rat's ass about some of Altervista's name servers being blocked by a major ISP?
