Problem with .htaccess Auth

Its the Joomla administrator panel that I cannot get to. I'm not sure the url will work for you since, but I get a pop-up box asking for my username and password, which is normal, but the page I get after the redirect is Error 500.

Any ideas why there is an error on the admin page but not the actual website?

Yuu had a broken .htaccess in your /administrator/ folder, commenting out part of it did the trick.

Thanks! Now when I go to log in to the admin area I get a password prompt, but when I enter my username and password I get the Error 500 again.

Any thoughts on this one?

You may try to change your php version to 5.3, you can do it in AlterVista control panel (Resources -> Edit php settings)
