Struggling to Install Facebook Pixel on Altervista WordPress - PHP Issue, Conversion
Hey everyone,
I'm hoping someone can lend me some advice as I'm running into a few roadblocks trying to get the Facebook Pixel set up on my WordPress site hosted on Altervista. My goal is to track quiz completions from Fillout.
Here's the breakdown of the issues I'm facing:
1. Meta Pixel Plugin PHP Version Issue: I initially tried to install the official Meta Pixel for WordPress plugin, but it's telling me that my PHP version is incompatible. Does anyone know how to change the PHP version on Altervista? I've looked through the dashboard but haven't found a clear option.
2. PixelYourSite and Missing Conversion API Token: As an alternative, I installed the PixelYourSite plugin. I managed to connect my Facebook Pixel ID, but I'm stuck on the Conversion API setup. PixelYourSite requires an API token, which I should be able to generate in the Facebook Events Manager. However, when I go through the process on Facebook, it doesn't seem to complete the pixel setup fully, and therefore, I can't obtain the API token. Has anyone encountered this issue with PixelYourSite and Altervista?
3. Tracking Fillout Quiz Completion as a Facebook Event: This is the core of what I'm trying to achieve. I've embedded a Fillout quiz on my WordPress page. When I go into Facebook Events Manager to set up custom conversions or events, Fillout's buttons or completion actions don't appear as trackable events through the Event Setup Tool. The only event I can seem to track is a visit to the final "thank you" page after the quiz is submitted. This isn't ideal as it doesn't accurately reflect a completed quiz.
Has anyone successfully tracked Fillout quiz completions using the Facebook Pixel on an Altervista WordPress site? If so, what method did you use?
Specifically, I'm looking for guidance on:
How to change the PHP version on Altervista.
Troubleshooting the Facebook Pixel setup with PixelYourSite to obtain the Conversion API token.
The best way to accurately track Fillout quiz completions as Facebook events (even if it involves a different plugin or method).
Any help or insights would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
Hello!
About the PHP version, unfortunately it's not possible to change it on WordPress Altervista, so is not possible to install it.
Regarding the issue with PixelYourSite, I suggest trying to unlock the server-to-server connections from "Settings -> Server to server".
I also noticed that you're using a plugin for the privacy policy. That's fine, but you might be interested to know that Altervista offers the PRO version of Iubenda for free. You can activate it directly from the settings without installing any additional plugins.
