Sendmail working?

I have installed webtrees on my altervista space. They say that they support sending Mails by SMTP or sendmail.
I understand that SMTP is not available on altervista. What about sendmail?

You can use the standard PHP way (using mail()), just check to set the "From" filed with your Alias mail.

Unfortunately webtrees doesn't support mail(). They did in the past, but claim it is insecure.

You could use third part services, like SendGrid or Brevo.
