    Hello,

The PHP version on WordPress managed hosting is controlled by AlterVista and cannot be changed.
May I ask why you need a more recent PHP version?

    Bye!

WordPress is asking me to update to its latest version, and I don't know if updating WordPress is compatible with the outdated PHP.

Can I update without any problems?

    Thanks

Yes, you should always update WordPress and all plugins, as this is necessary to keep your website secure.

Sometimes an update may cause the site to stop working properly, but this is usually not due to the PHP version. In most cases, it happens because a plugin is no longer compatible with newer WordPress versions.

Even in that situation, it's still recommended to update WordPress, disable the problematic plugin, and check for an alternative plugin with similar functionality.

If the site does "break", you can always recover it using this procedure: https://aa.altervista.org/index.php?site_recovery=1

    Bye!
