My site on Altervista uses PHP 8.0.30. Is this secure?
Hello!
Managed WordPress Account: AlterVista manages the PHP version, and it can't be changed by the user. It is currently PHP 8.0. PHP 8.4 is being tested, but there is no known release date yet.
Hosting accounts with file management: you can choose between PHP 8.0, PHP 8.2 and PHP 8.4.
AlterVista applies its own modifications to the PHP core, both to optimize performance and to improve security. This is why the available versions don't always match the newest upstream release.
Regarding the recently disclosed PHP vulnerability (CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619): AlterVista's technicians have confirmed that every PHP version they offer has been updated. No action is required from the people managing the sites.
Bye!
