Laravel 13x on AlterVista 🎃

This tutorial shows step-by-step the simplest way to use PHP/Laravel 13x (L13x) framework on the AlterVista free shared-hosting.

Instead to update the PHP version from 8.2 to 8.3 into the Dockerfile, to avoid problems on old Mac machines (in my case with macOS Big Sur) we install the binary using MacPorts.

This is the current PHP version:

% php -v
PHP 8.3.35 (cli) (built: Sep 27 2026 04:20:59) (NTS)
Copyright (c) The PHP Group
Zend Engine v4.3.35, Copyright (c) Zend Technologies

This is the minimum PHP version to use with L13x following the Support Policy.

Install Composer and create L13x new project:

composer create-project laravel/laravel L13x
