Family tree website

I'm building my first website on Alter Vista and using wordpress which is working ok so far! My first hurdle was that I started a blog instead of a website but I've been advised to continue and just use it as a website so that's what I'm doing. My site is to record my family history with biographies, photos and stories. I also want to add my family tree to one of the website pages using either a link from my geneology website (my heritage or find my past) or perhaps using a plugin that I've found called roots persona. Does anyone have any pointers they can give me regarding which option would be better or easier. I am a novice so any instructions would be appreciated.
