Entering my site domain without /index.html not showing index.html

Hi, I recently set up my website and I have an index.html file in the root directory. Normally webservers will default to index.html if no file is specified (say for example "subdomain.example.com" would usually do "subdomain.example.com/index.html" but when I try my website it still shows the default "Coming soon" page instead of my index.html file. I'm not sure how to solve this. Any help would be appreciated!
