Default tar.gz files decompressed when downloading

    Hi,

I've noticed recently that .tar.gz files are decompressed when downloading, which is undesirable for our use case. Is it possible to have this changed using the instructions at:

    https://serverfault.com/questions/91...alls-still-nam

I don't have access to Apache configuration as far as I know, but I would appreciate it if someone could change this for me.

    Thanks in advance.

See this file as an example. It retains the extension, but the downloaded file is actually only a tar archive now - the gzip compression has been removed.

Wasn't the original file like that? Can you check it please?

    Bye!

I have double checked and can confirm that when downloaded over FTP, the file is gzip compressed and ~600 KB in size instead of 2.8 MB.

Did you try to add the code in the .htaccess file?
    Code:
    AddEncoding x-identity .tar.gz .gz .tgz
    Bye!

I didn't realise that was meant to go in .htaccess. Doh! It's working now though, thanks.
