Issue is I cant even get started. with Alterpages you chose the template then it was very simple to add to / modify. This wordpress thing is very complicated and everything keeps trying to drag you...

How do you change to Alterpages rather than Wordpress? I have used Alterpages before and its very simple where as I cant get anything to work with Wordpress. Its far too complicated.
