My webpage disappeared

Hello altervista.
I had a webpage i wrote in html uploaded to your site which i enjoyed. Unfortunately i visited my own page a couple of weeks ago and google chrome said that the webpage didn't respond. The html file i uploaded is still there and so is the pictures, i thought. The pictures seems to be uploaded, but when i press them they just appear as a little picture icon. I am able to recover the html files but not the pictures, i tried to upload the html files again, but it didn't help. If anyone could tell me why this is happening and what i can do to fix this i would appreciate it a lot.
