    Question Using my domain name

If I already own my domain name and want the top level (ie, www.mydomainname.com) to point to my altervista site is that possible? I am going to be using a subdomain at a different site (ie blog.mydomain.com will point elsewhere).

You can, but you have to setup it in order to make an HTTP redirect, since you can't directly point it through an A record.

You should look at the settings of the domain.

You can't point a DNS record to the AlterVista server, the only way you can use a second level domain with AlterVista is to setup an HTTP redirect.
