Back up / WP forms

Hi. I am close to completing my website in AlterVista and have been trying to backup my sure using updraft plus however I think an error every time. I just wondered if perhaps this wasn't compatible with AlterVista and maybe someone has a free alternative I could try.
I'm also having an issue with WP forms not sending the contract forms of my email address..... Does anyone have any suggestions regarding this also?

Hello, don't use plugins to backup, use WordPress tools (Tools -> Export / Import).
Then, you can save all images with the FTP protocol (Tools -> FTP).

Thanks for the advice - don't suppose there's a guide on how to do this? I'm not even sure what FTP protocol is.

Also any feedback on why WP forms is not working - is that an issue with altervista?

What's the error? Could you try disabling all others plugins?
