Unhappy FileZilla FTP: "Connection timed out" | resolved (CloudFlare deactivated)

I cannot connect by FTP to AlterVista on FileZilla for Linux Mint. I get a repeating error message reading "Connection timed out / Could not connect to server". FileZilla was working fine yesterday; the only change I made recently was activating InnoDB, but I doubt that would affect FTP access. I can still upload files manually by HTTP on the AlterVista Control Panel. The IP address it is attempting to connect to is 78.129.205.38:21. Is it possible the FTP server is down?

Based on a previous Forum post, it looks like deactivating CloudFlare may resolve the issue after some time. I have deactivated CloudFlare but still cannot access AlterVista by FTP from FileZilla.

    anthronicole:

according to the traceroute you have posted there seems to be an issue on the network of your provider since traceroute ends at hop 4. You should contact them and report the issue.

I think the issue is with CloudFlare. I was just able to successfully log into AlterVista by FTP on FileZilla, 24 hours after deactivating CloudFlare. I'll leave CloudFlare off for now, but it's probably something that should be looked into. I doubt it has anything to do with my ISP....

Unfortunately this is what your traceroute says, you should contact them, they may be having routing issue towards certain destinations
