the ftp test fails because it is outdated, the correct host is ftp.cjbenson.altervista.org, it should work if you change it.

As regards the server ip it shouldn't answer to your pings, what you are seeing is correct and wanted.

You are experiencing probabily some routing issue from your client and your current server, CF solved it because the route changed.

FYI: the problem has been resolved. I activated CloudFlare and now I am able to view my website from all ISPs (that I have tried) without the connection timeout error.

I am experiencing a consistent "Operation Timed Out" error with my website even though it was functioning the first day of deployment. My ISP is AT&T/Bellsouth in southeastern USA. My neighbor's ISP is Charter Cable and my site fails there too. Another friend is able to access my site from California (western USA) via Verizon. I will activate CloudFlare if necessary but I would like to understand what is causing the problem.

this is most likely an AT&T issue as your website is online. Have you tried to report the issue also to their customer care?

according to your traceroute it seems to be a routing issue regarding your provider, your website is online, have you tried from another location? Please altro try to enable Cloudflare as it changes the ip address of your website.

I get error 502 when I try to see my website from my iPhone (AT&T) and my sister in Washington state can't see my site from her computer, a mac.
I can see my site from the pc at work and my mac at home, both in Anchorage, AK. I activated cloudflare after reading through the posts on this thread, but no change yet. Or that wasn't what I needed to do for my problem.
What should I do?
